People First of Newfoundland & Labrador began 1996 with a founding convention,that was held in Gander. There are presently three local people first groups in our province. They are Gander, Gambo, CornerBrook, People First of Newfoundland & Labrador is one of ten People First groups from across Canada. People First was started by people who had moved from institutions. They wanted people to know that labels hurt. They wanted to be knowen as people first People First of Newfoundland & Labrador board of directors are as follows.
